The Killer Marketing Strategy That Amateur Bloggers Are Too Lazy to Do

What if there was one blog marketing strategy that was more effective than all of the classic strategies combined?

If only there was a way that your wonderful words could get the audience they deserved without all the hard graft of posting on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Mailchimp, Medium, Reddit, and all the rest.

That would instantly validate all of the hard work spent on creating interesting unique content on such a regular basis. That would surely drive so many sales that blogging no longer seemed like a chore.

If you ever have daydreams like this, listen up.

Influencer marketing is as close to this magic pill that you’re going to get. There’s still a bit of effort involved, but the results from engaging with this strategy are well worth the grind.

With this strategy, you can leverage the huge audiences already built influencers in your niche, rather than trying to manually build you own audience brick by brick.

Simply follow the step-by-step strategy listed below.

Stage 1: Make a list of 10-15 influencers to target

The first step is to create a list of influencers in your niche who you’d love to work with. Aim high. This strategy works with anyone, although it may take a little longer to get on the radars of the world’s biggest bloggers.

You’re after individuals with a large blog audience, who have the same expertise as you, or at least write for the same audience as you, but who aren’t your direct competitors.

Get following them on social media, sign up for their email lists, get an RSS feed of their blog activated.

You’ll need to be tracking their every professional move.

Stage 2: Engage with their work

blogging on your website pictureIt doesn’t matter how big their audience gets, all writers love positive feedback and thoughtful comments on their work.

By leaving such feedback in their blog comments, on their social media posts, and maybe in the occasional email, this is the way to become known by influencers. Ideally, your comments are valuable and demonstrate a high level of knowledge in the subject matter. These will be 10x more valuable to you and the blogger. Appear everywhere you can. The aim is to become a super-fan.

In this stage, it’s important NOT to ask for anything!

Stage 3: Become known

Stick with stage 2 until you consider yourself a professional acquaintance of this influencer. Ideally, you’ve engaged in a few online conversations around your subject matter. If it’s a private email conversation, even better.

Stage 4: The big ask

Now, you’re at the point where he influencer is likely to take notice of email correspondence from you, rather than glaze over it like the rest of their cold emails. This means you’re ready for the big ask.

But, what to ask for?

Perhaps start by asking whether they’ll share a blog post of yours with their social media audience. The next stage could be pitching a guest post on their blog. With either of these options, you’ll still need to word your pitch email in a way where they can’t help but take notice.

Still, having followed the first three stages, you’re in a much better position for this request to be met positively.

Secure a share or a guest post from an influencer and you’re basically receiving a professional seal of approval from them to thousands of new leads.
